Beware - this item runs really small! I love the look and craftsmanship of this hackamore but it’s too small for my 15 hand Walking horse. The nose band needs to be able to adjust more. It’s much too small even in the last hole. So bummed and wish it came in a larger option.
I recently purchased this hackamore for my 15h, 1,000 pound Quarter Horse and was disappointed when I tried it on. It runs small! The curb chain part was so tight that it dug into his face. It was already on the last hole with no further room to put another hole. When it is listed as "adjustable", I would expect it to not arrive with it being on the last holes with no further room for adjustment for a normal size QH.
"Love love love!!"
I bought this hackamore because I wanted to try to go bitless with my horse... and I am soooo happy with it!! It arrived to my house in a couple days, and was exactly what I wanted! The leather is a nice Havana brown and it’s super soft and flexible! The only thing somewhat bad is the fleece is very thin but that’s not a problem since the leather is so soft! I used this on my horse who is usually very strong, hard to turn and stop, and rushes fences. IMMEDIATELY MADE A DIFFERENCE!! He was able to turn and stop with the slightest pressure! I did have to punch more holes to make it bigger so it would fit but my horse just has a pretty thick head! Still, made a huge difference! His canter that is normally bouncy and rough and hard to sit was slow and controlled and I was finally able to sit it! Love this hackamore so so much! It’s already fixed most of our problems under saddle! Also love that it’s not expensive but still very nice quality! Buy buy buy!
"Long lasting, all horses love it"
I've had 2 of these for over 9 years. They are still in great shape. Have yet to find a horse that doesn't love it. Good communication and control without being overly harsh. Great piece of go-to equipment!
Came fast and my horses love em ..
"Mom from Michigan"
Haven't had apportunity to use yet but nose piece is soft and pliable very nice hackmore
"Very well made"
I bought this hackamore because my mare is very energetic and does not listen to most bits, but this she responds very well too. With the help of this hackamore we have now jumped 2'9 together. My only complaint is the fleece mattes down but it still does not rub and she still responds. Thank You Jeffers!
This hackamore would be great if it was stainless steel. A friend and I both purchased one of these; his is rusted to pieces after 10 rides (but he doesn't clean his tack often), mine is starting to rust after three rides (and I clean my tack after every use)
"I LOVE IT ALMOST AS MUCH AS THEY DO!!!!"
I recently purchased a quarter horse gelding that was being ridden with this style of hackamore. I wasn't able to get it as part of the purchase agreement, and was very happy to find out that they were available for such a low cost at Jeffers. On a whim I tried it on my paint/arabian mare over the weekend, and it was the best ride I have had with her in the 3+ years she has been with me! She was very comfortable and calm. I even took her through some new areas and she was suprisingly relaxed. I now have two horses that can be ridden with this hackamore. This one is much softer and more giving/flexible than the others that I have looked at. I couldn't possibly be any happier with this product and how my horses have responded to it. I love it almost as much as my horses do, and the girls at the barn are wanting to try it on their horses now after seeing how well my mare responded to it.
"Lite-to save thier mouths!!"
I teach alot of riding lessons and have people over to ride that are beginners and very inexperienced. I use these hackamores on all the horses who have beginners on thier backs. It saves thier mouth from the usual beginners tugging/pulling--and it's also easier to put on then putting a bit in thier mouth.
I had a gymkhana mare that loved this hackamore. She would do anything in it.
This is a beatiful hackamore. I love the dark leather.
"My horse loves it."
I have had this for 2 years and it is time for a new one, but I definately recommend this hackamore! I use it on my jumper that had a bad mouth experience and cannot use a bit:) A few months ago I had to replace the chin chain, but heck, I have had it forever, anyways amd the replacement was only $3 at Jeffers. The fleece is also very easy to clean. I use mild soap, water, and a toothbrush. GO BUY THIS HACKAMORE ( from Jeffers of course)
"good hack for the price"
good cheap hack to keep in the tack room, works well for many things, we really like it for trail riding or seasoned horses during a relaxing ride, and is also great for endurance riding.
