The Women of Jeffers

International Women’s Day takes place on March 8 and is one of the most significant days of the year. This is a day to celebrate the global achievements of women and to raise awareness for women’s equality.

The theme this year is all about celebrating and embracing equity. In short, it means to value and believe in the positive difference women make. We can do that at the grassroots level, and this year we would like to focus on some of our team members who truly make a positive impact on our community.

 

Ruth Jeffers

Ruth Jeffers started the pet side of Jeffers Vet Supply when she fell in love with Blaze Starr, a puppy she found on a busy four-lane highway during her junior year of college. The two quickly became best friends, and soon after, in 1993, the first Jeffers pet catalog was born. Ruth continues to be a resource for others and enjoys spending time with her children and pets. She has served on many boards across the pet industry and was recently selected as a member of the UPS Ignite program that provides leadership training to women and minority-owned businesses.

 

Monica Dennis

Monica heads up the Purchasing and Merchandising team to find the best prices and products for our customers. She believes in providing the best customer service by maintaining proper inventory, developing promotions, and finding great deals. Teamwork is a primary focus for her, as she says that nothing is possible without her Jeffers team. Monica has lots of animals herself, including seven dogs, a cat, some fish, and a rabbit. She has a special relationship with her lab-mix pups, Coco and Buddy. Monica is known as MOMica to those in the office.

 

 

Latoya Mcnealy

Latoya is a Customer Service Manager and focuses most of her attention on ensuring client satisfaction. Her goal at Jeffers is to obtain exceptional customer service by addressing any needs and opportunities that may arise. Latoya strives each day to encourage others and lead by example, making every day better than the one before. She loves the Jeffers culture and being able to help customers have the best experience possible.

 

Maressa Loman

Maressa is our Digital Marketing Manager and all-around animal lover. She and her team are responsible for creating marketing campaigns featuring all those great deals our specialist bring in, for our website, social and so much more. She’s been bringing smiles and many laughs to the Jeffers team since May 2016. When she’s not working, she enjoys adventuring in the great outdoors.

 

 

Makayla Newberry

Makayla is a Graphic Designer and works on everything from catalogs to events and social media. She enjoys helping out anywhere she’s needed as part of the Jeffers team. Makayla also has a mini zoo at home with three dogs and a cat named Binx, giving a nod to the movie Hocus Pocus. She also has four guinea pigs, so her home is never short on entertainment. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and snuggling on the couch with her pets.
