These are the ONLY trimmers I recommend. Used to buy the cheap ones from Tractor Supply and had to replace 2-3 times a year. I just replaced my pair of Shear Magic Trimmers after 3 YEARS! They stay sharp forever.
This is the 2nd pair I have had to buy in 10 years! They last forever!
These trimmers are the very best we've had! Light and easy to handle, very sharp--They take the hassle out of trimming! HIGHLY recommended!!!
"Sheep hoof clippers"
Light weight, easy to grip and handle well. Very sharp to easily clip sheep hooves quickly to prevent stressing animal. Easy to use guard to secure blades when not in use.
"Easy to use"
Sharp and easy to use, especially for a smaller hand. Highly recommend!
"Made it easy!"
I was a little nervous about trimming my baby goats hooves solo because the one's on my breeders farm were pretty old, but these made it a breeze! They fit great in my smaller hands and cut fast! Love thrm so much I plan to buy other pair for our breeder as a thank you for our new family members!
These are some of the best trimmers I have ever used. They stay sharp even when I trim my male goats. I just bought another pair because I lost the others. I will always buy this trimmer.
"Been using these for decades"
Tickles me to see reviews where folks just discovered these. These are exactly the same as shears for precision plant pruming - just not bypass or anvil type pruners from your hardware of home improvement store! Over the past 36 years (yikes! Has it really been that long!) the green handled Burgeon & Ball foot shears have outperformed these for us, but these have also done well. Please note - over time either will need to be sharpened, and will also need to be tightened occasionally if you trim a lot of hooves, especially really hard ones. Wish the handles were a little larger on both, even for use by the women in the family- and longer handles equals more leverage, but otherwise both these and the B&Bs work great for us.
I have only got to use them a couple times. However, they are by far the best I have had the opportunity to use. They fit your hand comfortable and are easy to use. I love the locking handle also.
These are the best trimmers you will find! They are a little pricey but they are worth their weight in gold for trimming hooves . I will recommend them to everyone!
Excellent trimmers! I have used these almost exclusively for more than 20 years for trimming our Nubian dairy goats! You can resharpen when dull and use again and again! They are a MUST HAVE for goat keeping! They will make your hoof trimming job much easier. www.pruittvillefarms.com
"Finally the right tool!!!"
I cannot believe I finnaly found the trimmer that WORKS! I have goats for over two years now and I had to trim their hooves, but I could not believ that it was so hard - all the trimmers that I could find in farm stores or even online did not do the job - too big and bulky, too dull, not enough pointy - you name it. My neighbor trimmed my goats hooves with the tools he used for his horses - it was an ordeal i have to tell you. I was outraged - could not beleive that until now nobody came up with the trimmer that can do what it has to do! I found this beauty on Jeffers, read reviews and in spite of the price which is somewhat high, gave it a shot. My neighbor came to try my new trimmer - we finished trimmimg 6 goats in half an hour, when before it took us 3 times longer, lots of sweat and bleading hooves. This trimmer is a king of trimmers. The description tells exactly what it is. Really sharp - beware! I don't know if you can find better trimming tool. Let me know if you will.
Sharp and stay sharp. Well made. They really make hoof care easy. I have had them for over a year and haven't sharpened them yet (have from 15-20 adult goats at a time plus kids). They could use it, but still work quite well as they are. Only bad thing I can say about them is when when you have them completely closed, the *sharp* tips bypass each other so they can still cut you when they are closed tight in your hand.
I'd always read that many people used plant pruners to trim goat hooves, but I'd never had any luck with them. I had always used wire cutters and a hand planer to trim my goats hooves. But after reading these reviews, I decided to give these shears a try and I was thrilled with the results! I trimmed my goats (large nubian does)in half the time, and the shears really DID cut the hooves like butter!! I am totally impressed :)
For the price, these clippers are pretty good. Without fail though, every time I use them the grip gives me a blister.
