Firocoxib Tablets for Horses is the generic version of Equioxx, the first and only cyclooxygenase-inhibiting (COXIB) class non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) for horses. Firocoxib Tablets for Horses is used to control the pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis (OA) for up to 24 hours.
Dosage & Administration:
Always provide the Client Information Sheet with the prescription. The recommended dosage of Firocoxib Tablets for Horses is one 57 mg tablet administered orally to horses weighing 800-1300 lbs.
Firocoxib tablets are administered once daily for up to 14 days for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in horses. OA is a painful condition caused by progressive wear and tear of cartilage and other parts of the joints that may result in the following changes or signs in your horse:
- Limping
- Lameness
- Decreased activity or exercise such as difficulty performing or reluctance to stand, walk, trot or run
- Stiffness or decreased joint movements
These should be given according to veterinary instructions. Do not change the way you give Firocoxib tablets to your horse without consulting your vet first. Do not exceed 14 days of treatment. These tablets may be given with or without food.
Storage:
Store at room temperature, between 20-25° C (68-77° F), excursions permitted between 15-40° C (59-104° F).
