"Soft metal"
Reminds me of stainless steel. Not prone to rust but very soft compared to other nippers I've owned. Blades and handles bend very easily and constantly need re-shaping. Would not recommend for any professional since you will spend too much time repairing nippers instead of trimming.

I bought these primarily for my mini horses but also to use on my full size horse because the large nippers are difficult to handle. They are reasonably sharp and work great.
