    "Weaver 12" Chain Gate Latch."

I got these - just in case. They are simple. Easy to use - if I get around to it. FYI The installation pictures show the chain staple mounted in line with each other. Horses are pretty strong. They'll lean against stuff when bored. It does take much to pull a staple straight out. Consider mounting 90 degrees out. It should work just as well, though it may take up more chain. Pulling the attachment points side ways, requires that they have to fail in shear stress - not tension stress.

    "Weak chain"

I love this ideas. The latch part works great but the chain is too weak. The slightest bump to the gate and the chain breaks

    "Great latch!!"

Simple and easy to use. Love the one-handed operation! Heavy duty latch. Everything needed for installation is included in the purchase.

    "Weaver 12" chain Gate Latch"

Best gate latch out there. Less likely to freeze with icy weather. Simple one had operation easy from horseback. Use a Locking Nut or ring to prevent nut and bolt parting. Be super careful not to allow tack, reins or martingale to get caught in latch hook. It happened to me many years ago, my horse panicked!. Latches NEVER wear out unlike snaps which need constant replacement. Great value for money. We have at least 14 around our farm, some are 20 years old!

    "Easy to use latches"

These gate latches work great. Just drop it thru the eye and the gate is secured. Easy to remove because all you need to do is move the ring--other latches are spring loaded and much more difficult to open
