SuperZoo Day 3: Heart in Concert

Furry Friend at SuperZoo

SuperZoo was in full swing by now at Mandalay bay! Walking through the halls, I passed dogs small enough to fit in a purse and large enough I could probably take a ride on. There were dogs whose fur had been dyed purple, blue, pink and a myriad of other colors, and groomed so uniquely I couldn’t help but do a double-take. I met up with Ruth to walk around the convention center and discover some new products, excited to see what Jeffers could be bringing on board. Walking through the trade show with Ruth Jeffers was like walking through with a celebrity. Everyone knew who she was and she knew all of them. Being her tag-a-long for the day, I got to meet a lot of the top players in the industry and learn about their product lines.

Throughout the day I couldn’t help thinking about how despite how massive this trade show was, it felt like a family reunion for some. I’d walk by booths and hear people talking about their children and catching up on each other’s summers. Most of these people have been working together for years in the industry, sometimes moving from one company to another, and have developed lifelong friendships.

House of Blues

That night we had tickets to see Heart live at House of Blues in Mandalay Bay. It was an easy walk across the casino floor for me from my hotel, but realized it would be a much further walk when I saw the line to get in. There were over 100 people waiting in line when I got there, excited to see the rock and roll sisters. Now, being 25 years old, I never really listened to Heart growing up unless it happened to come on my parent’s stereo. Once they finally came out to play, I was shocked to find out that I knew almost every song they played. Their voices gave me goosebumps, and the songs had me tapping along with the beat in no time.
