"I like it"
Three weeks after administering Zimecterin Gold, I had a fecal done. All four horses tested completely clear of internal parasites! That is the first time that ever happened.
"Burned one horse's mouth"
I used this for eight horses last fall, and had one react badly. Chemical type burns and swelling on mouth, tongue and lips. Won't use again, can't take the chance with customers' horses!
We have used this product several times over the past 4 years with several different horses and have never had a problem or reaction. It is part of our annual rotation of wormers and we are very happy with this product
I have an 11 year old Halflinger Gelding. He had no problems whatsoever with the Zimecterin I gave my horse his wormer mixed with dry cereals- rice crispies, applejacks, and diced up apples. I don't know if that made a difference, but my horse licked his corner feeder clean and had no negative reactions. This wormer controls more types of worms (including tapeworms) so if it doesn't cause your horse problems, it's a good product. My horse's worming history wasn't great when we bought him, so it made sense to get a wormer that would kill more parasites, just in case.
It can cause allergic reaction. DO nto wipe on the inside of mouth put far back in mouth on tongue and do not do when mouth is wet(just drank water) If you do get on inside of lips or sides of mouth wipe off do not add water as that is cause for it to start reaction, This is what we experienced I still use and my fecal exams are great but I am careful of how it is given.
I would just like to warn people about this product. It does cause an alergic reaction as well as ulcers in the mouths of some horses. My horse just had it this month and his mouth swelled up within 10 min of administering the product. Just want to warn people in case they did not know this could happen.
We use Z Gold for all our broodmare band, and main herd. The only qualification is that we don't use it on our foals until they are over 3 months. We have had scours in young ones after using this product.
This is an excellent product for parasite control in horses but should not be given to pregnant mares
