Bought this to replace a Farm Inovators one I bought from Amazon that didn't even work ONCE. So far this one b e is working. I do not like the cork screw wire piece that is used to attach the heat element to the cage. Kinda hokey and not very secure.
"Good for plastic tanks"
I just bought one of these heaters from Jeffers, but I’ve been using one that I bought last year from TSC that cost $10.00 more. It’s a good heater; keeps the water temperature above 40* and sits at the bottom of the tank in its cage where it can’t burn through the plastic tank. I once had a floating tank heater that melted a divot in the side of the tank, so I know they can get hot enough to damage the tank if the heater is in contact with it.
"Absolutely must have for large plastic water trough"
If you have a big plastic water trough and can put it near a power source, this de-icer works great. It's an absolute luxury to never have to break ice and it is so very important for your horses to have a totally ice free tank. They will drink a lot more and reduce colic risk.
"Great product "
I purchased this heater after finding my horses water trough iced over 1.5 inches thick). I had a heater in there from last year that had obviously quit working through the night. I bought this stuff and amazing price and it has donever it's job well!! We have had several below freezing nights and my trough has been perfectly thawed. Definitely suggests this de-icer
"Great Tank Heater"
I have purchased 2 of these tank heaters. I live in Utah where the temperatures are ranging from -20+ degrees to 30 degrees and extremely pleased with how they keep my 70 and 300 gallon water tanks free of ice! The price for these items is the best I've found; online or in-stores. Buy one, you'll be glad you did.
"These are great!"
I have one of these and I couldn't believe the results when it was over -10 for two days. Not even a slight bit of ice around the 75 gallon tank. Had it two years and keeps water non-iced no matter what the temps.
"Just What I needed"
We have been through minus 17 degrees and our horse rescue couldn't have gotten by without this De-Icer. The guard keeps plastic barrels safe from melting.
We use this in an old bath tub outside and we are very pleased with it. Kept the water from freezing in even a large tub. We had no troubles with it and next winter will use a ThermoCube Thermostatically Controlled Outlet with it.
This product along with the heated bucket I bought for my goats has been absolutely wonderful this winter! Between putting the 5 gallon heated bucket in the barn so they have unfrozen water out of any bad weather and this heater in one of my larger water troughs outside I haven?ÇÖt had to worry once about my water buckets icing over. I also haven?ÇÖt had to worry about my poor hands freezing while breaking and pulling ice out of the buckets every morning! Using this heater has been a life saver this winter! I couldn?ÇÖt imagine life without it! I even noticed that when the goats had a choice (both buckets don?ÇÖt have ice on them) between both outside water troughs the goats seem to choose the one with the heater in it. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who lives where the temps. drop below freezing in the winter.
I bought one from Jeffers 12 years ago, use it every year and it still works great.
