"Great for the money"
Works great and is way cheaper than other alternatives of same quality. Would definitely recommend buying an extra set of numbers upfront though if you plan on having double digits of goats
So far so good! Wish shipping was a lite quicker sometimes but overall an A
This is a good quality and trouble free tool. As suggested by another reviewer we did buy two so we wouldn't have to mess with changing inserts while a baby goat is being held. The only improvement I would suggest, strongly, is that the inserts be labeled. It's a pain to try to figure out which letter is which without a label. Otherwise, it's great.
"Jeffers small animal tattoo"
Bought one of these to have a second tattooer after having bought a Stone first. Comparing it to the Stone, I was very disappointed. Pliers have a much cheaper feel. Digits remain loose. The digits tattoo very close together which could contribute to reading problems. The stone digits have the pins run through to the back which allows you to look at back to tell what it is. The digits with the Jeffers tattoo kit have to be identified by looking at the pins which is more difficult. I will be returning it and buying a Stone instead.
I purchased this model to tattoo my Nigerian Dwarf kids who are now 9 weeks old. The small size fits their small ears pretty well. The "Ear Release" model works great. The spring mechanism removes the ear from the needles swiftly and easily. I think it is better on the kids with the spring release. I highly recommend buying 2 of these to do your tattooing. Use one for your barn name, the other for the kid's sequence number. It took me minutes per kid which meant less trauma to the babies. I highly recommend this product!
I needed an additional number 2,3, and 4 for tattooing last years kids. This worked great with the numbers the the pliers I originally bought.
"Nice Tattoo Set"
I purchased this tattoo set for ND goats. I had never tattooed before. It worked just fine or as expected.
"Very poor quality, missing letters"
**DO NOT PURCHASE** I purchased these pliers to tattoo my registered boer goats. Upon arrival I was thoroughly disappointed. The outfit was missing 1/4 of the letters, and the letters that we actually received you couldn't even tell what they were. The description says it includes ear release which it also didn't have. It was very cheaply made and I don't even know if it would hold up to tattoo 1 goats ear. We sent it back and got a Stone instead which is definitely worth the money.
"Good price, good product"
I have the Jeffers small animal tattoo set and just ordered another one so I don't have to switch out my reg. numbers! Would recommend.
I am on my 2nd set of the Walthem small animal tattooers with ear release, and am sending them back. The digits don't hold steady in the pliers, and the digits themselves aren't long enough - they don't go through the ear and don't make a deep enough impression. Of course I liked the price, but will have to bite the bullet and get a Stone.
"Good for my Nigerian Dwarfs"
I have the ear release and highly recommend it. Tattoo set is easy to use so you get done in one quick shot. Works perfectly for little ears on Nigerian Dwarf goats.
