"Sturdy and handy!"
Sturdy and better quality than the last one I bought years ago. Handy for bolusing our goats.
"Good for adult and yearling goats"
This is what we use for yearling and adult Nubians. Repack cow boluses in gelcaps that fit these balling guns. Great way to save money.
"For calves only"
This will not work for the 2g Copasure bolus for goats-way too large.
"Calf size fine goats"
I use the calf sized gun on my full size alpines and boers. I buy COW boluses, and dump them out and repackage the rods into #13 empty gel capsules because the 'goat sized' copasure capsule sizes are useless (and overpriced), and the cow/calf sized boluses are too big for most goats - the dose is by body weight. The #13s and calf sized balling gun work great for my full size goats and work for even spring born kids when they receive their first dose in the fall, and the calf sized gun fits the boluses great and allow for easy administering. Most of your problems come from not getting the gun back far enough and not holding their head up by the jaw until you see the bolus go down their throat. I use these on my adult pygmy goats and full size kids that I've bolused as young as 4-5 months.
"Also bought for goats"
Way too big. We really need something we can use to dose our goats!
I ordered 2-gram and 4- gram copper boluses for my goats, and a 2-gram bolus applicator gun. This balling gun is easily large enough to deliver 12-20 gram pills. It is NOT made for anything smaller, and it practically choked the goats. The pill fell out into her mouth and she chewed it, copper is NOT supposed to be chewed!!!
