"sturdy, but tall"
This stand is very sturdy, but it runs VERY tall. At its normal height I've done a draft horse and it still goes higher! The only bad thing about it is that the rubber stopper that holds the cradle will wear out with time and wiggle around, especially if you're using it as a regular hoof stand as well as the cradle. And i don't know where to get a replacement for that rubber part.
I used it for the first time this weekend with my smallest horse (14.1H cutting horse). Had to remove the pin and drop teh extension to below it's lowest setting to accommodate his height. That said, it worked great. The stand is solid and easy to move around without being so heavy it manhandles my back. I wold love to see a rubber safety edge around the bottom platform but I am not sure if that would compromise the stability of the stand. As is it was very stable and did well. I like to finish on it and the color. You don't get flashed of glare in your eyes off the stand while working out in the sun. Love the product so far!
"Well made but would change one thing for safety"
I bought this and was impressed that it is sturdy and well made however my horses aren't the best when it comes to using a stand. I have draft horses and they have kicked the stand over. What I would like to see is a rubber edge put along the bottom to prevent an injury if the horse would put it's weight down on the of the base when it has tipped. Wish it was a tad bit shorter as well but we can maybe drill more holes to lower it. Otherwise we like it.
"Good for the price"
This stand is nice overall and serves its intended purpose well. However, the magnets are so strong that one pulled off from the stand the second time I pulled my rasp off it! Either the glue was not sticky enough or the magnet is too strong...not a big deal to me but I might try to reattach the magnet if I can find some industrial strength glue.
Nicely made. Cradle comes off to another square rubber stopper so you really don't have to keep switching if you don't want to. Cradle measures 4.5 x 5 inches and is actually big enough for my Belgian Draft.
