I am a breeder of NALC REGISTERED CATAHOULAS SINCE 1984. I moved from South Fl. To N.W. La. This product has lasted 13 yrs. I just purchased a new one for precautions for this winter's litter. I am still using the old one. Doesn't take the pups long to figure out where it is especially when you have a large litter. This product connects to Jeffers heating pad. Also the BEST!!!!
My dog loves the outdoors and loves this heated mat which enables her to stay outside and be comfortable. We love not having to let her in and out so often. The cover could be better designed and more durable. It frequently requires repositioning.
"Good for tortoises, too."
These heat pads work very well for my sulcata tortoises. Winter nights are a little too cool for them, even in So CA. I use these heat pads (without a cover) in a double walled doghouse and the tortoises can maintain their body temperature. They naturally go into the warm house when it is cool and come out when the sun is up. I like that the hard plastic pads can be cleaned with water and are indestructible, even by a large tortoise.
"KS English Mastiff breeder"
We are a breeder of English Mastiffs and have used these pads for whelping pads and heat pads for our dogs, indoors and outdoors and have been very happy with them. We really like that the pad is not constantly hot, it only heats up completely when there is weight on it. You can put a light blanket over it for it to be slightly warm and when a dog lays on it, it warms up quickly. Our dogs know where the heat is! They all love these pads in the colder season of the year.
