Jeffers Emasculatome Castrator

Jeffers Emasculatome Castrator is a precision instrument with cord stop for bloodless castration. Made of nickel-plated steel.

How to use:

A quick, bloodless method of castration is to use an emasculatome to crush and rupture the spermatic cords. This method can be used on older animals, however, it is best to castrate when young.

It is important to remember that the spermatic cords must be crushed one side at a time. After restraining the animal, grab the scrotum and manipulate one of the testicles deep in the scrotal sac and find the spermatic cord. Place the clamp over the spermatic cord one-third of the way down the scrotum. Clamp down and hold for 15 to 20 seconds. Release the clamp, reposition it over the spermatic cord one-half inch lower and repeat the procedure. Perform the same steps on the other side to crush the other spermatic cord. Always check the position of the spermatic cord before and after each clamping to ensure no mistakes are made. With this method, the scrotal sac will not slough off but will remain on the animal. The testicles will atrophy.

This method is the best to use during fly season because it leaves no big open wound. Goats must be between four weeks to four months of age with eight to twelve weeks being ideal. Because of the difficulty in telling if the spermatic cords have been crushed, this method may be perceived as less reliable than the knife or banding.

Totally a newbie at this whole process. Received the Jeffers 9" Emaculatomes and put them to work on 3 bucklings. I had to re-do 2 of them because I wasn't sure if it took, but they worked great! Thank you!!!!

    "great tool. better service"

I received product with a small manufacturing defect. It had a crack in the handle. I can see how it was easily missed. I wrote an email on Saturday. I received a response on Sunday and my new tool arrived Wednesday. I couldn't be happier with the customer service I received!

    "It works!"

We raise Nigerian Dwarf goats and this tool works perfectly for a quick, easy closed castration. We DO provide a local block and pain injections prior to using the emasculatome for the comfort of the kid. We also vaccinate for CD&T as a preventative even though this tool is bloodless just to be on the safe side. The tool comes with instructions and they are clear to understand. We double clamp each side and monitor the kid closely for swelling, bruising and any other adverse effects. All of the kids we've castrated with this tool have bounced back quickly and are completely sterile within 2 weeks of using it.
