Jeffers Basic Canvas Horse Blanket
Jeffers Basic Canvas Horse Turnout Blanket is water-resistant and has a heavy-duty shell with warm felt lining. This economy horse blanket features a green & tan, navy & white, or brown & white checkered print.
Please Note: The Jeffers Basic Canvas Horse Blanket is a great economy blanket for horses that are not as rough on their blankets. The canvas horse blanket is water resistant and designed to repel water but is not waterproof. All canvas horse blankets are designed with limited seams to protect the integrity of the blanket and its ability to repel water. For example, the bottom edge of the felt liner is not sewn into the blanket to help keep the blanket water resistant.
Basic Canvas Jeffers Blanket Features:
- 2 adjustable chest straps
- criss/cross belly surcingles
- hind leg straps
- tail flap
- shoulder gussets
- Brand: Jeffers
- Material: Canvas
- Type: Blanket
The front closure is short on fabric and will not cover horses chest. Have to adjust the blanket several times a day as will not stay centered.
"Great blanket "
Fits our mare nicely, nice and warm but still a nice light blanket , seems to be very durable too . So far so good !
"Mr blanket destroyer loves them "
My paint is a blanket destroyer, I thought he'd eventually get to old for his games but alas he is 22 and his favorite winter past time is to destroy blankets. With that said I have bought 2 of these and the 1st lasted about 3 or 4 years, which is a miracle. He finally got tired of the color I guess and shredded it this year. Luckily, there is a back up because I hate washing blankets. I will be ordering another one or five as soon as my bank account doesn't look like I've been robbed. Side detail: order a little bigger than you normally would, my paint is a 78 but the 80 fit quite nicely.
I use this blanket on cooler nights for my 45 year old mare. Works great but I did sew in some velcro to help the front closure. I love using this blanket as an over blanket for her heavier winter blanket as well. Keeps her warm and has held up to mutli-flora rose bushes and their thorns.
This is NOT a good blanket. The fit is improper and will not stay centered on my gelding. The front closure does not overlap. I am going to try to return for a refund. This is the 1st product I have bought from Jeffers in many years that I had an issue with.
We were looking for something lightweight to help two senior horses through our mild Southern winter. The Nylon is terribly thin and I imagine it will be a matter of time before the nylon straps at the chest rip through. Also, there is no velcro closure, and the blanket is not built with enough material to overlap in the front so your horse will be bare chested . Not happy.

This blanket is AWESOME! As soon as we get a new blanket my husband sprays waterproofing on the canvas & lets it thoroughly dry. We also tune up the older blankets. Never, ever had a drop soak through. If it gets super cold; a warm fleece underneath is perfect. Been using these blankets for at least 10 years. Worth every penny.
I bought this in a 72 size because that's what size my mare's previous blanket was. She used it for many years and when the buckles on the front began to rip away, I decided she needed a new one. So I bought the same size and when I put it on her and got everything adjusted, I was reminded of Chris Farley's "fat guy in a little coat" because even though it is the same size,it definitely didn't fit like her last one. Runs a bit small, I'd say. So I bought different blanket. This one is sitting in the tack room, unfortunately. Get what you pay for, I guess.
Bought this blanket about 4-5 years ago and just threw it out this past fall. A few clips broke after 2 winters but easily were replaced. Was ripped a few times but that’s going to happen. Was not disappointed at all! Will definitely be buying many more!
I ordered two blankets three years ago and they are still in great shape. They are great for cold nights in Florida and have held up well even though my horses lay down and roll with them. I plan on buying another for my new horse.
love them for Florida, colder states not so much...great blankets!
"Read reviews "
I have 2 of the better quality canvas blankets and expected this to be made the same way but unfortunately the blanket didn't last 3 days before it was caught on the stall latch and my horse ripped it to shreds when she pulled away from the latch . Most importantly it did just come apart everywhere and it did not get caught up on her causing an injury that would have been awful. So read the reviews it is thin and horses that damage blankets might not be the best candidate for this blanket.

So sorry to report that these blankets are junk. Ordered 6 for our granny mares who are easy on blankets expecting these to not be of the highest quality but boy, they failed even that expectation. You get what you pay for and these are no great deal. Not even a good deal!
This canvas blanket is definitely get-what-you-pay-for. The liner is very thin and is not sewn in all around, it is only sewn into the back portion and hangs down the sides freely. I don't know whose idea that was, but it's a terrible one. The canvas is thin, not a heavyweight. The chest buckles are thin nylon and I can see them ripping easily. My mare wears a 72 so I purchased a 72 in this blanket, but it is quite small even on the largest adjustment. It's not worth sending back, I'll keep it as a back up, or use for another horse.
I was super excited to get this blanket for the price. It held up for a portion of winter before my horse managed to completely rip open the back and his tail was coming out of the ripped open area. Not worth the $.
