The bucket has a three prong cord with a chew protector and the heater is completely hidden within the walls of the bucket. The cord storage compartment under the bucket allows for it to be used as a regular bucket during the off-season. "small heated bucket"
wonder full for mini's in the barn. easy to handle and refill. love the flat side
"Don't invest in these buckets"
I used to love the API buckets until last year. They have redesigned them- they have cheaper bottoms that crack and the handle holder on the side is round and very cheaply made now. I bought 27 of them and only have 4 left that have broken on the handle holders (the circles crack off). Half of those -the bottoms cracked out. I contacted the manufacturer - and they don't care. So I was out over $1000 and have to replace them for this year. These have longer electrical cords than the Farm Innovators do- but I won't purchase these again.
"Wish I could trust them"
When these buckets work, they are a real time saver and I love them. We only use them in the winter months here in Maine and store them away during the summer months to help extend their life. I bought two the first time and one of them started to get very hot- too hot to touch the outside plastic. Jeffers was great and replaced it right away. Now, a second one is also too hot to touch and I see that it is two years old. I hesitate to ask for another replacement from Jeffers because I think this is Allied Precision's responsibility. Or, am I wrong in thinking it should last longer than 2 years? They've gone up $10 in price- are they any better?
"dont last in mn"
we have to get a new one every yr. they do not last. we get them for the bunnies and cats and dogs. the elements burn out. husband says too much $$$ no more. we will set up something different this year. have never had another choice.
"Works as advertised"
I have had these buckets for 4 months now and the weather just really tested these buckets. It was -25F this morning and the buckets were still ice free. I do not think I can ask these buckets to perform any better.
I am now on my second Heated Flat Back Bucket from Allied Precision Industries. The first one melted along the sides, about an inch up from the bottom, and developed leaks. The management at Quality Supply in Missoula, MT gave me another. Now this one is showing distorted plastic in the same places, and looks like it too will leak if I continue to use it. I do not use an extension cord, and the bucket is snapped into an eye bolt in the wall. I do suspect the pony mare in this stall may be playing with the bucket, spilling the water. But according to the web site the element only goes to 50 degrees and shouldn't be affecting the bucket's plastic even if empty.
"A Must for Cold "
This bucket is a must in Ohio weather. No more chipping ice off buckets. Keeps the water from freezing. Also the newborn kids love laying againest these buckets for the heat. Dual purpose.
I have these for every stall during the winter! They work wonders. I don't worry about fires with these. I love how the cord can be stored underneath the bottom of the bucket so they can be used as a regular bucket. They really keep the water from freezing and the flat back allows the bucket to rest against the wall nicely. Great design and product!
"Winter Life Saver"
I gave these buckets 5 stars because I LOVE them! They have been absolutely wonderful. I have used it with horses and now with our goats with no issues! It?ÇÖs so nice not to have to deal with ice every morning! Saves my hands from getting frozen breaking and pulling ice out of buckets every morning! The horse?ÇÖs buckets have lasted two winters so far and are still going strong. This is the first winter I?ÇÖve used one with the goats and they seem to love it! I really like the fact that the cord can be stored away and you can use the bucket as a normal bucket throughout the rest of the year as well. We tuck the cord away and use the buckets year round for the horses. I also like the metal wrapped around the cord to prevent chewing. I would highly recommend this bucket and you can?ÇÖt beat the price!
"Saves so much work!"
This bucket works great for my goats in the winter! Saves me tons of work and time when the temperature gets low. The goats love it, I love it, so pretty much, it?ÇÖs super awesome! I recommend it for sure! Great price as well!
"No More Frozen Water!"
Well, after several years of breaking up ice in the water buckets during the freezing weather, we finally got smart and ordered 2 of these buckets. We use them with the ThermoCube Thermostatically Controlled Outlets and we were very pleased. They seem pretty heavy duty and I expect them to last for several years to come. The metal coil covering the wire to discourage the animals from chewing on it is working nice. Goats are notorious for chewing on everything, and they have left this alone so far. Nice warm water for our goats to drink even in the freezing weather was sure a treat for them. Our does that kidded this winter sure appreciated the warm water the most. If you live where the temperature drops below freezing than I highly recommend these bucks. I will definitely be ordering more for next winter. I may even order one for our German Shepherd. It was worth the effort of needing to run extension cords for power to our outside pens.
"Great for goats"
This worked well with my goats..not so much with my horses. they played with it too much and cracked the plastic...not really the buckets fault. But a rubber one would be better choice for horses.
I've used this continuously in the barn since mid-October for my 1 goat and 1 horse. So far it works fine. Each morning when the water level is low, I use the heated water to clean the feed buckets, then refill it with water.
"Not for Horses"
The handle is attached with a plastic nubs that brakes off if your horse plays with bucket like my horse. The heating elements still works so I use the bucket while on the ground. The water could be a little warmer during the winter months.
