"Great Toy - Not a Chew Toy"

This is a great pool/lake toy, and it really holds up to playtime. Our first one held up great for over 5 years with a very playful 45 pound border collie who loves water retrieve games and plain old fetch with a little tug thrown into the mix. I only replaced it since the first one was fading and fraying a little from use. That being said it's not a leave your dog alone with item and let them figure out how to scissor tooth and chew it to bits kind of product. Even my 37 pound border collie can destroy almost any toy given no direction or interaction from me with the toy. Toys are not for chewing/self-entertainment time, they are for playtime with me or with each other (with supervision). Edible chews or specially designed chew items are for chewing time, with a little supervision (I don't leave my dogs unattended with any toy or chew item). If you are looking for a sturdy floating toy to play with as mentioned here, this will not disappoint and give you tons of fun in the process. Be sure to bring it inside when you are done to help it last as long as possible.

    "Yogi's opinion"

I tried the authentic "Dog Whisperer" brand and in two minutes my Caucasian Ovcharka had it torn to pieces. Now, that toy had the plastic bottle in it, and this one is double-stiched at both ends and stuffed, so I will chalk the tears up to thinner material, not the strong, authentic fire-hose material this toys has...so it may be comparing apples to oranges to some, but this material is much thicker and Yogi has carried it, chewed it, played tug-of-war with it and it is the only stuffed toy he has not completely annihilated. As a matter of fact, we use this toy in his training by rubbing scent on it and hiding it, and it has held up remarkably well.

    "Fire Hose"

The Fire Hose toy we bought several years for our Black Lab/Bassett Hound mix survived every thing he gave it. I wanted to buy a couple for some friends with a new puppy. I'm afraid the fire hose squeaky toy is not as indestructible.

If you are hoping for something that will survive a REAL chewer, this isn't it.

    "Great for water fetch"

I bought two of the large firehose toys to play fetch in the pool with our Belgian Malinois. That was six years ago. We are now using them for our second Malinois - for FEtCH only. The edges are a little worn, but I am on this site to buy two more. They are great for use in the water.

    "not that tough"

bought small and medium. wasted my money because my 10lb dog managed to tear off the black nylon edges on both of these toys in less than 30 minutes and remove the white stuffing. I was really sad that these were not tough enough for my little guy. Back to the nylabones!

    "2 Minutes Tops"

"Had this one for about two minutes before Beau...the not-so-extreme chewer had torn open the ""extra durable fire hose material"". Something about the way the ends are sewn up made this toy easy to tear into. "

    "Destroyed in 1o mins."

My cocker spaniel had this destroyed in 10 mins. Wish I could add a picture of it.....

My 3 year old English Mastiff has had his for about a year. We play tug of war every night. It just wore out and ordered another one.

    "somewhat durable"

My Corgi destroys all his toys in minutes. This one lasted almost a week. Although he was able to destroy the toy, it took days instead of minutes. For the price it was worth it.

    "Waste of money"

Bought this for our mastiff puppy. Package said hard core chewers. What a joke. He had the handle tore off in an hour. The rest of it took two more days. I only purchased this items because I was under the impression this would hold up to a chewer. Skip this and buy a Kong.

    "Love "

My two German Shepard dogs love this toy... It's the one they make last from tug a war to catch to gutting it... This really only toy I buy for them cause it last more then a day.

This is NOT a durable CHEW toy. It is durable because it will last for years if used as a retrieving object. Dog can chomps down and tug a little with out destroying it and it will remain float able. Don't treat it like a kong, treat it like a frisbee. If I leave a frisbee out my dog will shred it, but its his favorite toy (besides a bumper) and lasts for years if used for retrieving games.

    "Not Durable"

My 10 month old puppy ripped this toy in no more than 5 minutes. This is not durable at all. Was a total waste of money.
