"Dogs love them if you can stand the smell!"
Our dogs really like these products, but the smell is unbearable. I would recommend a horn do chew over these hooves...
I have bought these for a long time for my 5 heavy chewers and amazingly my little Sheltie goes around and collects these to hide and not share! I like the 5# size for economy.
"Smell terrible but the dogs love them!"
These smelled like something in a smoker...but that's probably what attracts the dogs to them. I had to be sure to get one for each of the big dogs and then when they would chew them down, my little chihuahua would steal them.
"Great for heavy chewers"
These are the best-quality hooves I've found anywhere. Unlike other brands, Jeffers hooves don't splinter and crack into small fragments after just a few minutes. It takes hours of work to gnaw them down to a small size. The dogs LOVE them, and I love that I can buy them in bulk.
"Always a Favorite"
I have used these for a long time - the 5# size is economical and with my 5 heavy chewers the size I choose. My dogs really go for for these chews.
My dog loves these. They don't smell great and pieces do splinter off but she doesn't try to eat the splinters. They are big.
"My dog's favorite"
These are highly digestible, but oversee consumption to avoid dog swallowing small pieces whole--my GSD upchucks these, so I pick them up. Jeffers chews are extra heavy duty, so usually my dog does not break off small pieces but just munches on the hoof. They smell a bit funky when damp, but the smell does not linger even on carpet and I never have had any staining. Best "chill pill" for my service dog after a long day! NOTE: two 5lb boxes often wind up being less expensive than 10lb box which ships FOB.
I have used these chew hooves for several years and my dogs love them. Since I have 5 dogs I find buying them in the 5# box economical and easy.
"The Best Cow Hooves"
I have been buying these for years from Jeffers. Never have I been disappointed. From my Dachshunds to my friend's 135 pound Mastiff/Bloodhound mix, no dog has been disappointed or has had any problems with shards, chips or any digestive problems. But, then again, we don't let them eat a whole one in a sitting. Nor, have I ever seen a dog be able to eat one in a sitting. These are the longest lasting treat EVER! They do smell "funky" when wet. That is an ok trade off for a treat that lasts and lasts. We all love them and the quality and price can not be beat! Thanks, Jeffers, for your consistency of great quality, customer service and quick delivery over the years. I am a customer for life!
"Munch munch, doge love them"
My dogs love them. They get so excited when I give them each one, then all you hear from them is munch munch munch as they happily chew t them. They are a little stinky when they get wet but nothin terrible. I have one dog that likes to steal them from my other dogs and hord them away.
"Great time users"
Keeping my active dogs busy working on a chew hoof is time for me. I have a toy poodle who loves to play a game with hers, dropping it off the back of the sofa and running to get it again :)
"Love at first chew"
My babies absolutely love their new chews
"Except for the smell..."
My dogs love these. I fill them with cheese or peanut butter, freeze them and let them have at it. The only thing (to me) once these are wet (slobbered on) the smell is too strong for inside. Also, I've never had a dog to actually chew the hoove so I am not sure if they would be bad if swallowed.
I thought these would be a great for our dog that doesn't like Nylabones. And indeed she loved it, but within 30 seconds, our 30lb dog was breaking off splinters and quarter sized pieces with sharp edges. We tried a second hoof and the same thing happened. Out of fear of an impaction or intestinal tear, we threw the whole bag in the garbage.
"Adding to my review..."
I forgot to mention that regular chewing on these will keep tartar off teeth, saving expense and risks of dental cleanings. A new dog just joined my pack, and his teeth had a moderate amount of tartar--within a month, it was gone! Also want to add that I appreciate a USA-sourced product.
