The Comfy Cone by All Four PawsRedesigned Comfy Cone still keeps your pets from scratching and biting at skin wounds, hotspots, or post-op stitches. But now it also comes with removable stays, to give it just a little more structure when you need it. When you don't, simply remove the stays to enjoy a softer, flexible cone. Either way, these are a great alternative to stiff, lampshade-style recovery collars. Comfy Cone lets your pet eat and sleep in normal positions while wearing. Because it's flexible, your dog can do many of his normal activities without you having to remove the collar.
Velcro® fasteners let you adjust the collar for a secure fit. Your pet's own collar threads through the cone to keep it in place. Made of water-resistant nylon fabric, laminated to 1/2" foam, to produce a collar that is soft and yielding, yet protective. Wipes clean easily with cold water and mild soap but can be machine washed, too. Folds and stores flat. Black only.

Our dog destroys the plastic cones the vet sends them home in, so I purchased this to have on hand. It does serve the purpose well. I am pleased with it except it is a bit bulky and with our dog being 19-20" neck the adjustment isn't quite as forgiving. But overall it works great and I do suggest this for others.
"The only cone we use now!"
"Our Beagle needed to be in a cone for MONTHS after 1)a slipped disk and 2) surgery to remove a cancerous growth from her ear. We started off with the clear plastic cone, but her legs were so stumpy she would catch the leading edge of the cone on the stairs when trying to walk up and be ""bounced"" back down a few steps. Not good... We tried this and it was a whole new world - no clanging off doorways or stairs, no needing to remove to eat, and we actually left it folded back most of the time to allow for air circulation around her wound. The only downside I saw (smelled!) is that because we had to put sulfur powder on her wound daily, it tended to get smelly - even after we washed it. But, other than that (and nothing a little Febreeze couldn't handle, but it needed to dry thoroughly before putting it back on)we were thrilled! I didn't interfere with her collar, she could still go for walks, eat, sleep etc, etc, and sleep comfortable. We'll never go back to plastic again!"
Bought 2 sizes, one for my yorkies+one for a GSD+a chow chow size. Chow loves it, works, easy to fold up to eat, or to view if they arent chewing their sore at the time+you are watching. Soft to sleep on. Bought doubles so every day can hand wash+put new ones on; a life saver. GSD is nosey dog,as she wants to view the world 24/7 so kong blue blow up style is perfect for her. Little yorkies-some like the seclusion +saftey it offers-one is nosey+likes the blue kong better! I love it because it doesnt kill your legs when a large dog bangs into you running down the hallway with a large plastic bucket type--they hurt! I highly recommend it-Why dont vets carry options? They send you home with plastic buckets+everybody is miserable. Dont mind the price, they work+pets are happy.
"Great Collar "
I bought one of each size. And I really like them. the only thing my dog does not like is he can not see anything at all around him. And some of my dogs it scares because they can't see. But they can do so much more with these as there flexible and bend with them in playing or just laying around. The elastic bands the collar goes in could be bigger. As was very hard getting the wide collars thru them. But great for small collars. I would highly recommend these.
This is so much better than a regular ecollar. My husky was recently spayed and, being as finicky as she is, I knew she'd never tolerate an ecollar without a huge fight and probably some sedatives. She had no problems with the Comfy Cone at all though. Its flexible enough that she can sleep in whatever weird position she wants to, plus with the velcro it only takes a few seconds to get on and off, whereas a typical hard plastic cone is such a pain to put on. You can also fold it back and cuff it to allow for eating and drinking, then you can wash it if you need to. I can't understand why more vets don't offer this collar instead of the traditional ecollar because its so much less stressful on the dog than the other cones out there. Its perfect!
"Wonderful Alternative to Traditional E-Collar"
I have two of these in two different sizes; one for my Newfies and one for my IG. My IG was the recipient of his weeks ago for his neuter. Thus far I've not had to use it, but I love love these much more so than a traditional bulky stiff E-Collar. Your dogs are able rest much more comfortably and eat/drink with them on (although I'd take it off as water/food does tend to collect and make a mess if left on) Wonderful for use for when your pet has a hot spot or is recovering from surgery. And, the reflective material makes it easier to see them ;)
"Great alternative to e-collar!"
Our 1 year old boxer recently had to have knee surgery, and they sent her home in one of those hard e-collars. She looked pitiful! After just one day in it, I had to go buy her one of these. I wish I would have ordered in advance because I had to pay around $10 more at a large pet store! The Comfy Cone is so much better because it allows them to lay comfortably. I would recommend taking off when feeding and drinking because it can get dirty easy and they are prone to knock over their bowls (trust me).
