    "A Staple in my protocols"

I have a large goat dairy and I have been working with my vet to eliminate CL in my herd. This is what I use to vaccinate my young stock and any new does entering the herd. The babies don't seem to be bothered much by the vaccine. But, on occasion you will have an adult doe go down for a day or two. But, she usually bounces back and does not have the same reaction to the booster shot. I have had abscesses at injection sites. Normally, it is a reaction to the shot and contains no CL infection. However, if you vaccinate a doe that already has been exposed she will usually respond with a CL flare up. Hope that helps. I find that using this vaccination is about 85-95% effective in an already infected flock. The key is good shot records and timing of boosters. I give boosters twice a year just to be safe. I am very thankful for this vaccination.

    "Works!"

CaseBac works well in my Sheep flock. It must be administered correctly and needles changed often and there will be no knots or other side effects.

    "Knot Problems"

I gave this herd wide on the front shoulder and had 3 does develop knots, 2 of which ended up abscessing 6-9 months later, the third still has the knot after a year. Also had at minimum 6 does that were under the weather for the first 4-5 days following injection, limping and off feed. I did not follow through on vaccinating the bucks because of the does' reactions.

"Caseous Lymphadenitis or CL in goats"

If you dont have Caseous Lymphadenitis or CL in your goats now, you will eventually. This product is not labled for goats, but it works and can prevent your herd from getting CL. If you have it already, vaccinate the ones that dont have it and vaccinate the kids to gradually eliminate it from your herd. There are some side effects with some adult goats, but it works. Many goat people are using this vaccine. I recommend it highly even with some minor side effects.
