I have one of these in the car, one on the boat, I have given them as gifts to other dog people, Nothing is perfect, but this comes pretty close. I tether it so it won't slide and it travels flat and dry. My pup always has water available in the car no matter how short or long the trip, with out me thinking about it. The large reservoir means it doesn't run dry in a few gulps. The lid has a gasket to help with making it watertight when it does get turner over or upended, and if you are careful about screwing the lid on it seals pretty well. But the only time it would come into play wpould be when it was turned completely over or upended with the handle down. Otherwise this thing is spill proof in a big way, and slosh proof too. Even a sudden stop doesn't cause water to sploosh out!
