I got one of these pads in November of last year (black & white). I love the size (wish more companies made smaller square pads!); it's a really *light* pad for the thickness of both the padding & the blanket - top. Overall, I do love this pad.
I ride for around an hour every evening, sometimes more on weekends. This pad doesn't get heavy like other pads I've had, and doesn't get too squished down behind the withers. My only complaint with it is the same as I've had with most other PC products - it just doesn't LAST!! I haven't even had it a year, & while the blanket-top part still looks brand new, the fleece on bottom is starting to come off. Looks like my pad has mange, & I've only actually washed it twice. I rinse it out usually every couple of weeks, and wash it when I notice the rinsing just isn't getting it clean, using mild shampoo & a soft brush/my hands. So why do I have bald spots?? :( Will probably be going with a plain felt pad again next time! :(
I have used SMx pads for a long time and have always liked them. My horses like them even better, so that's the best part! These pads wear like iron and never get 'smushed' down and they are easy to clean. I just ordered the cross plains pattern as a new show pad for my daughter...they go from trail to lessons to show!
