Received this two weeks ago. Cats were on top of it before I got it together. It has a strong wood scent to it so I put newspaper in it to absorb the scent. It's working. My sight-impared cat uses the stairs and enjoys the top shelf. Certainly is a favorite in this house.
I got this at a great price, 33 dollars, but it's not what I expected. It's a lot smaller than it appears in the picture. The steps are about 6 inches wide and very steep. My chihuahua's would not even try to climb the steps because of them being so narrow and steep. My cats love it though but have problem getting up and down the stairs so they just jump on top. I thought it would be a little heavier than what it was too. If you want this for outside you would have to do a lot of sealing in the cracks because it is not weather proof. You may have to put some plastic around it to seal it for outdoor use. In rain or snow I doult if it would hold up for one winter unless you seal it with some sort of weather sealent. We are in the process of making wider steps for it. I am glad I got this on special because I would not buy another one for the full price. The actual bottom box width is about 20 inches wide by 15 inches tall. The measurements listed on the decription includes the size after the stairs and the lattice is put on. It is easy to put together and looks cute but I really do not believe it's worth the price.
My family bought the Room with a View during Jeffer's 12 days of Christmas Sale. We got it at a great price. This is a very well made product and it was easy to but together. My family's 3 cats love to hide and play on Room with a View.
