Antitoxin may also be administered to animals following castration, docking, and other operations performed on premises upon which tetanus infection has been a problem.
Vaccination with tetanus toxoid is recommended for healthy domestic animals not infected with tetanus, to establish an active immunity for prevention against disease. Consult with a veterinarian for specific vaccination recommendations.
Provides immediate passive immunity that lasts 7-14 days.
For prevention in horses, cattle, swine, and sheep: 1,500 units IM or SQ. (1500 units = 1 single dose.)
Horses and cattle: give 10,000 to 25,000 units
Sheep and swine: give 5,000-12,500 units.
Also approved for Goats:
Colorado serum recommends using one 1,500 unit vial per goat regardless of size/age for prevention and higher levels (3x and higher) for treatment.
A must have on hand. We use this when wethering our male goats. Also if a goat gets an injury that would make it susceptible to tetanus and we are unsure of vaccinations, this would be a good thing to give.
"Excellent product and price"
A must-have product when it is time to disbud, castrate, or for any serious flesh wound. This is not a vaccine, but a prevention of disease. Reasonable price for an excellent product!
