"may need more then 1"
I have seven dogs and they all eat like I feed them once a week! I initially bought one large pacer for my pointer/bull dog mix, and ended up having to purchase a second one because he was still able to inhale his food in no time flat with just the one. With two, it did slow him down a bit because he has to nose around the pacers, but he still gulps what he is able to reach. I adopted a basset hound recently and he too gulped his food. I put a med. pacer in his smaller bowl and it works much better. I think it really depends on how big the dog bowl is. The pacers themselves are really good quality and easy to wash but you may need more then 1.
"Didn't work for my dog"
This did not work for my hasty eater. He just picked it right out of his bowl and then continued to eat rapidly. I ended up using ice cube trays to slow him down. He's about 90 pounds and clever. If your dog is less diabolical, it might work well for you.
"Great product "
I bought this for my Coton because she eats so fast sometimes she gets sick and she always belches because of the air she swallows eating so fast. I bought this and it slowed her down. No belching and I think she actually tastes her food and enjoys meal time better. The only think I had to do was place it in her bowl and put a few bits of kibble to get her use to it. Great buy!
"Works as promised!"
This stainless steel portion pacer ball works extremely well and slows down eating speed tremendously! It used to take our St. Bernard puppy about 30 seconds to eat his food, but with the Portion Pacer ball it now takes him about three minutes. It is nice how it moves around in his bowl--slowing his eating pace but still allowing him to eat all of his food after moving the ball strategically around inside the bowl. I highly recommend this product to slow eating pace and to help prevent the deadly condition of bloat.
