These are the best trimmers you will find! They are a little pricey but they are worth their weight in gold for trimming hooves . I will recommend them to everyone!
Excellent trimmers! I have used these almost exclusively for more than 20 years for trimming our Nubian dairy goats! You can resharpen when dull and use again and again! They are a MUST HAVE for goat keeping! They will make your hoof trimming job much easier. www.pruittvillefarms.com
"Finally the right tool!!!"
I cannot believe I finnaly found the trimmer that WORKS! I have goats for over two years now and I had to trim their hooves, but I could not believ that it was so hard - all the trimmers that I could find in farm stores or even online did not do the job - too big and bulky, too dull, not enough pointy - you name it. My neighbor trimmed my goats hooves with the tools he used for his horses - it was an ordeal i have to tell you. I was outraged - could not beleive that until now nobody came up with the trimmer that can do what it has to do! I found this beauty on Jeffers, read reviews and in spite of the price which is somewhat high, gave it a shot. My neighbor came to try my new trimmer - we finished trimmimg 6 goats in half an hour, when before it took us 3 times longer, lots of sweat and bleading hooves. This trimmer is a king of trimmers. The description tells exactly what it is. Really sharp - beware! I don't know if you can find better trimming tool. Let me know if you will.
Sharp and stay sharp. Well made. They really make hoof care easy. I have had them for over a year and haven't sharpened them yet (have from 15-20 adult goats at a time plus kids). They could use it, but still work quite well as they are. Only bad thing I can say about them is when when you have them completely closed, the *sharp* tips bypass each other so they can still cut you when they are closed tight in your hand.
I'd always read that many people used plant pruners to trim goat hooves, but I'd never had any luck with them. I had always used wire cutters and a hand planer to trim my goats hooves. But after reading these reviews, I decided to give these shears a try and I was thrilled with the results! I trimmed my goats (large nubian does)in half the time, and the shears really DID cut the hooves like butter!! I am totally impressed :)
For the price, these clippers are pretty good. Without fail though, every time I use them the grip gives me a blister.
These are absolutely the best hoof trimmers out there. They fit all sizes of hands, are comfortable to use, and trim very well. I've been using mine for about the last six or seven years and they've trimmed thousands of sheep and goats with no problems at all. I've sharpened them several times and am just now replacing them after all of these years.
"Best hoof trimmers"
These are the best hoof trimmers I have used on my goats. Most of the hoof trimmers out there don't stay sharp very long, but these do. I am also left handed and these are the only trimmers that work while trimming with my left hand.
"Won't Trim Without Them!"
These are by far my favorite hoof trimmers. I use them on my goats and they work wonderfully. Cut through even the tough hooves with no problem. I've resharpened mine several times, and they still work great. I've had mine for almost 2 years and have trimmed hundreds of hooves. They are are still going strong! They are comfortable in your hand as well. The only thing I wish they had come with a belt pouch of some sort so I have a place to put them between goats. Definitely recommend this product!
Excellent cutting ability. easy to clean and when they get dull you can take them apart and sharpen them. NO COMPLAINTS at all!
"These are AWESOME"
"Super sharp and cut through hooves like they are made out of butter. I had been using a horse hoof knife for years. I bought some of those ""hoof rot shears"" a couple years ago. They are not that great and I went back to the knife. Well, it's been very dry here for a while and the goats' feet are really hard and trimming their feet was getting to be a real chore. I picked these up with my last order. These shears have made things so much easier. I did all the bucks today, no problem other than the smell!"
