Bought this before there were reviews, wish I would have waited. My pit was done with it in about 15 mins, shredded and little red things all over the house.
I have had great success with Nylabones in the past. However, my 2 APBT want nothing to do with this style. I purchased 2 of these several months ago and they still look brand new in their toy bin. I think the reason they do not prefer this style is because they are not as solid as their other Nylabones.
"I stumbled upon Dura Chew Plus in the Souper size for my almost 2 year old Golden/Yellow Lab mix, Murphy. I think he hears me talk about the rating of toys, and makes it his goal to be more destructible than the maker thinks possible. This bone lasted about 3 months! This ""puppy"" mamma couldn't have been happier! Murphy plays with the Nylabone toys for hours, and likes to share them with me whenever he thinks I look bored. I can't wait to try all of the other Nylabone options for Mr. Murphy! If you've got a beyond mega chewer, I would highly recommend giving this a shot!"
This is my 14 lb. Shih tzu's favorite bone. But after going through 2 of them separating at the seams I decided to contact Nylabone. They sent me a replacement bone in a different style. Unfortunately my dog doesn't like the new bone near as much as the other one. The separating sides can be a danger if the dog gets a tooth caught. I definitely wouldn't recommend for strong chewers.
"not so durable"
My 2year old boxer mix LOVES these, but it only takes her a few days to chew to the center of the toy, which is hollow. If your dog isnt a strong chewer I think it would be wonderful.
This is a nice toy in that it floats and has different textures. I threw it in our kiddie pool in the summer when the dogs played dunking for toys. As a Nylabone chew toy, it isn't as durable as their regular hard Nylabone products. My Dobies and Aussies chewed it down to sharp edges fast. The Dura Chew is better for dogs that are not aggressive chewers.
