"Excellent for feral colonies"
We just started using this bowl at our feral cat colony. The feeding station is out in ambient temperatures, under the overhang of a building. Yesterday, it was 105F. We had put the bowl out the evening before and when we checked it the next evening, the water was still nice and cool. We're amazed and I know the cats will appreciate it as the summer goes along.
I was VERY impressed with this product, especially after reading the prior review. I had to attend a 6 1/2 hour outdoor doggie event and wanted to provide access to water for the attendies. Friday afternoon I put the Stainless Steel portion of the iChill bowl in the freezer. Saturday, 8:00 a.m. I took the bowl (both parts) to the event. I filled the bowl with water, and although the area was shaded, the temp was in the upper 90's. Several times throughout the day I had to refill the bowl (just room temp water) and at 3:00 p.m. the water was still nice and cold. The dogs enjoyed the water at the event and I was very pleased!
"Piece of junk"
This doesn't work. The bowel is a double thickness of stainless and the stand is sits in is suppose to keep things cold. It's a waste of money and keeps the water cool for a short time. There's no real insulation quality to it. I threw the stand away and still use the bowl, but not for it's cooling quality. I wouldn't buy this again.
