I got my tank heaters 10 years ago they still work .
Have one for a 50 gallon tank I only use in the winter when the automatic float waterers are likely to freeze. I have had no issues keeping ice out of the goat tank. Buying another for the cattle tank as well.
We bought 2 of these heaters approximately 10 years ago. We don't use them every year, but just tested both as our temps got down into the teens for a few days. Both heaters still run strong and in a 250 gal trough there was no ice in temps with a wind chill of -10 degrees. VERY GOOD!
never any ice to worry about any more, this works great in 50 gallon half barrel , just plug it in & drop it in
"150 Gallon tank? Forget it!"
I have a 150 Gallon stock tank. I thought I would try this design. Barely got below freezing and the water had slush in it. Our winter temps get down to around -10 come January. I will NOT be buying this style deicer again.
"Necessary Winter Item"
This water heater has saved me so much time ?Çô and made our horses and donkeys very happy. They always have water and we both don?ÇÖt have to fight with ice.
I don't like this design at all. My horses pull this out of the trough all of the time and I find it lying on the ground. I also find that there is a slight electrical current put out into the water with some of these. I have tried several and more than one has zapped my horses. I like the type that goes in through the drainage hole much better.
I used this de-icer infrequently for the past 4 years, and this year continuously since mid-October. So far it has worked very well, without exception.
