"The Best Cow Hooves"
I have been buying these for years from Jeffers. Never have I been disappointed. From my Dachshunds to my friend's 135 pound Mastiff/Bloodhound mix, no dog has been disappointed or has had any problems with shards, chips or any digestive problems. But, then again, we don't let them eat a whole one in a sitting. Nor, have I ever seen a dog be able to eat one in a sitting. These are the longest lasting treat EVER! They do smell "funky" when wet. That is an ok trade off for a treat that lasts and lasts. We all love them and the quality and price can not be beat! Thanks, Jeffers, for your consistency of great quality, customer service and quick delivery over the years. I am a customer for life!
"Munch munch, doge love them"
My dogs love them. They get so excited when I give them each one, then all you hear from them is munch munch munch as they happily chew t them. They are a little stinky when they get wet but nothin terrible. I have one dog that likes to steal them from my other dogs and hord them away.
"Great time users"
Keeping my active dogs busy working on a chew hoof is time for me. I have a toy poodle who loves to play a game with hers, dropping it off the back of the sofa and running to get it again :)
"Love at first chew"
My babies absolutely love their new chews
"Except for the smell..."
My dogs love these. I fill them with cheese or peanut butter, freeze them and let them have at it. The only thing (to me) once these are wet (slobbered on) the smell is too strong for inside. Also, I've never had a dog to actually chew the hoove so I am not sure if they would be bad if swallowed.
I thought these would be a great for our dog that doesn't like Nylabones. And indeed she loved it, but within 30 seconds, our 30lb dog was breaking off splinters and quarter sized pieces with sharp edges. We tried a second hoof and the same thing happened. Out of fear of an impaction or intestinal tear, we threw the whole bag in the garbage.
"Adding to my review..."
I forgot to mention that regular chewing on these will keep tartar off teeth, saving expense and risks of dental cleanings. A new dog just joined my pack, and his teeth had a moderate amount of tartar--within a month, it was gone! Also want to add that I appreciate a USA-sourced product.
"Best de-stresser available!"
I have been giving my German shepherds chew hooves for years. Since they love them, and chewing is a great de-stresser, I always want to have enough on hand. Turned to Jeffers for best price, and have been very pleased with exceptional and consistent quality of these hooves. They are thick, so dogs gnaw them and pieces do not splinter off. Yes, there is an odor--but what is happiness worth? When hooves dry, odor disappears quickly. I let my dogs chew once a day until they are satisfied, and then put the hooves out of sight until next day. They last longer than any other treat I have found.
Thank you Jeffers for your kindness, your fast deliveries and your great product. The hooves are great bigger size than any stores I seen here in the island and also great price My Bulldogs love them Thank you !
I have 5 bulldogs who are aggressive chewers and these hooves have saved my furniture! These are the largest hooves I've seen. They are thick and large!! Great deal!
Patty, I just have to tell you that, in the 36 years I have been breeding Rottweilers and have bought thousands of Cow Hooves over that time, these that I received from you yesterday are the absolute NICEST I have ever had! Needless to say, a Rottweiler can go thru a smaller hoof in no time--these are wonderfully the largest I have ever gotten. THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH! Peggy Garner
"Great Quality Chew at a Great Price"
These are great! I have three pit bulls and they munch on these in the crate during the day and when they are out during the day. They last for a long time even with heavy chewers. For a cheap price I get ten pounds of them and they last for about three months. They stink though and they make the dogs breath smell horrible. Also do not touch them after they chew on the for a while because they are super slimy and the smell gets on your hands. I really love these though and I highly recommend.
"These hooves are an awesome treat, and last quite a long time (I have a lab and pitbull and each hoof lasted at least 1-2 weeks). The only reason why I gave it a 4 is because after being chewed on for a while, you start saying ""what's that smell?"" and its because the hoof stinks when it becomes wet. But I can stand the smell as long as my dogs are happy, and they of course love them."
"best chew treat on the market"
We have bred, shown and raised dogs for over 3 decades and have tried all types of chew treats during that time. In my opinion nothing beats cow hooves. They seem to be universally loved by all dogs or at least the ones we have given them to, which has been dozens. But more importantly they are a safe, long lasting, economical chew. We have never had a dog choke on one, which has been a potential problem with rawhides. Even hard chewers are not able to bite off a hunk that might either choke them or get stuck in their teeth. Instead they gnaw at them rubbing off small slivers and crumbs. Another big plus is that they don't leave stains on furniture or carpeting. The only possible objection you might have is that when the hooves are new they have a gamey odor, but that dissipates within a day or two. We toss our 4 dogs 6 hooves so that there isn't any arguing over the same one. And it is entertaining to see them stealing each other hooves and hiding them for it to only get stolen by one of the other dogs when the initial thief isn't looking. But it remains all in good fun. None of the dogs seem to get too possessive over their hooves. Probably because we keep enough extra lying around that there is always an available one for them to have. In my book you just can't go wrong with cow hooves.
