After reading a number of reviews on other sites, I decided to purchase this unit and am very glad I did. I was at first reluctant to use a shock collar on Jeffery my Golden Retriever. But after one too many times when he refused to come when I called him, I decided to take the recommendations of so many who suggested I try it. I only wish I would have gotten it sooner. It is the best money I have ever spent on my dog. I could not believe how fast he responded to the training. I now feel like an expert trainer, whereas before I felt completely incompetent to be totally honest. Now I look forward to time with Jeffery and going for a walk.
The hand unit and the receiver both seem very well made and I believe will last for years (I hope). I find that level three was all that was needed to train him initially. Now, when I train for some activity he is not trained for, level two is all I need as it seems that just the slight sensation is enough to send the message. When I first started level two would barely make him look around, whereas level three would get his attention. Level four caused him to yelp, so I did not ever use that again, as it was never needed. It goes much higher, I can't imagine needing to go past level three even as stubborn as Jeffery is. I also like the fact that this unit can control up to three dogs. I am thinking of getting another dog now that I know I can train one, so this feature is a added blessing. I talked to a guy that owns a kennel and he said that this is the same unit he uses, so I am confident that it should meet anyone's needs.
As an added benefit, Jeffery used to bark all the time and he has about the loudest bark you ever heard. I simply put the collar on him went inside and when he started barking would give him a little correction. In minutes his barking seized. Now he does not even need to have the collar on; it is a miracle! I couldn't be happier, a
