I bought this item because I thought that my dogs would love to chew on the tennis ball as well as the rope. While sitting in the living room ten minutes after giving it to my one dog I start seeing that there are pieces of the chewed up ball by her mouth. I take away the toy and cut off the rest of the tennis ball. The dogs still have the rope after two weeks and they love it. Just warning that the tennis ball is not very sturdy so do not buy or carefully supervise if the dog is a chewer.
