We had been using another pair to trim alpaca nails and always had trouble. We got hold of an ARS trimmer and the cut the nails like butter. Could not believe the difference.
these are sharp handy useful shears but not durable enough...goat hoofs can be very very tough and the jaws of these razor sharp shears are thin walled and the pivot point is not quite robust enough...the jaws separate with heavy stress....but they are useful, this will be my third pair in 18 months.....truth being they work well for the initial cut but then set them aside and use a true heavy duty serrated straight scissors to complete the cut
I have used the ARS trimmers for years now and can state that these trimmers are the best I have used. They stay sharp and will cut the hooves of my Boer buck like butter. Don't forget to wear a glove on the other hand!
