Works well on horses that have a lot of natural rate. Has a good deal of lift and a lot of flex. Used by Barrel Racers in competition. Also good for slow work and training. 6" cheeks. Slobber bar. (#965)
best bit ever purchased. My daughter barrel races all her horses in this bit. bought a horse that would not take a bit in his mouth so i tryed the little S and he responds just fine. We now use this bit for all of our horses no matter whether we are barrel racing or just trail riding. Love it!!!
I purchased one of these bits many years ago and used it to train a 7 year old Arab gelding. It worked wonderfully on him. I liked is so much I decided to try it on my older (blind) Appaloosa that I was using for working cows. He had gotten to the point that he would not stop or listen even to harsh bits or gags, he no longer had a soft mouth. This bit was the best thing I ever used on him. After that I purchased my second and have never gone back to my old bits. The only problem I had with it was the slobber bar, which is a wire. It eventually frayed and broke in half after a few years of constant riding so I bought an actual slobber (bar) to replace the wire. I think I lost some flex when I did this, but the bit still works wonderfully. Highly recommend. I plan on using this bit on a friends horse that is having some issues with all (in mouth) bits. Am confident I will have great results with this Arab as well.
