I purchased an xl for my dog, a bull terrier who has a large neck. Turns out I really needed a lg because it's too big. He measures 19 at the lower part of his neck but I should have measured up near his ears I guess! It does attach to the collar so it helps to keep it on. He uses it like a pillow and tolerates it really well. No trying to get it off or anything. He does run into things with it but luckily he just bounces off, haha! Would have been 5 stars if I had gotten the right size and if the Velcro was a little better. It doesn't stay very well. But my dogs body is weirdly proportioned! Medium sized dog with a neck as big as his torso!
I have different dogs,so I have 2 sizes. One for yorkies,which works perfectly and makes a comfy pillow for them to sleep. I have a chow chow+a GSD who use the biggy one. They both have worn it throughout 4 years now-when needed-and they still hold up-no leaking-no puncture. Mine are all indoor dogs-no pet door. Outside only to potty with hot not freezing weather. They like them+rest well with them. Velcro works still fine. Only trouble is the GSD has hotspot on end of tail-this collar+so far all collars cant stop her from reaching her end of tail! Great product exceeds expectations for all size pets for me!Right now one yorkie has a stomach rash+is wearing it fine for about a week.
I bought 2 of these a small for pups and a large for my big dogs. It works pretty well but the velcro fastening is not the greatest. My big dog kept getting it undone by rubbing against a wall. And it says chew resistant. Well it was not long before my dogs had a hole in it.. And then tore the outer liner and punctured the inner. For dogs that go thru dog doors this was just as bad as the ecoller. And you have to make sure you get it large enough they can't get there nose over the end of it to lick. For my money the bite not collar is better.
