Unfasten one of the prong links and place the collar around your dog's neck before refastening. Made of high-quality German steel. Heavy duty links for strength and durability. Tips are slightly beveled and polished to prevent injury to the dog. To adjust size, add or remove individual prong links. Chrome-plated.
I've been using Herm Sprenger collars with my clients since 2006. They are by far the best quality. I was disappointed to see the new design. The center plate makes it difficult to size this collar to a smaller dog that isn't quite small enough for the smaller prong collar. But we've figured it out, and I actually see the benefit in it now. There was always a concern for the pulling sensation being too tight on the far side of the collar. This design makes the tightening against the skin more even with less discomfort for the dog. Since we have always opened the collars between two prongs, losing the connections at the ends wasn't an issue. I couldn't recommend these collars enough for almost any dog, but please learn from a professional how to use it correctly!
I like the older style Herm Sprenger collars better. The center plate is a pain (mostly for clients that are still learning the equipment) to put on, and you can only properly put this collar on using the center plate because both ends now have closed links. I end up flipping one of the closed links around so that the collar can connect from the ends again.
