Heated Plastic Poultry Fountain

Farm Innovators

This unique product is designed like a traditional plastic poultry fountain but has the added benefit of being able to use it during the winter.

The base has a 100 watt thermostatically controlled heater built into it.

During the winter, simply plug an extension cord into the base and the unit will work automatically, keeping the water in the 3 gallon reservoir from freezing down to 0F. It has a unique bottom-fill feature, and is ideal for year round use.

1 year manufacturer guarantee.

poor design

The heater works and keeps the water thawed. That is the only good thing I can say about it. It is very difficult to take apart and put together. The bottom and top are designed to slide in opposite directions to lock in place, but they don't. I ended up having to use a screwdriver and hammer to get the parts to move into place. Don't waste your money.

Don't waste your money. The plastic broke the first winter and the replacement time was 6 months.

Favorite Heated Drinker

I wasn't going to post a review regarding this drinker design, but when I read all the BAD reviews, I felt maybe I should. I have several of these and in fact, purchased three more today. This is a GREAT VALUE.. when you consider that most drinkers, heated or not, sell for high 30 dollar range if they are of any meaningful capacity. 3 gallons is perfect as you will be carrying it, making the full drinker about 27 lbs. There are four raised nibs on the top, this allows you to stand it upside down with the base OFF, fill the unit quickly, replace the base and turn it over... apparently I'm one of the rare folks that does this without dousing my feet. Also note that there is a center hole in the handle and it may be suspended by a chain or placed on a level stand, preferably at the back height of birds to be watered. Considering that the galvanized heater bases are 40.00 or higher alone, this is a workable and inexpensive alternative. I do recommend plugging your extension cord into a GFCI outlet as we are dealing with water and electricity. It's simple, quick, convenient and inexpensive... five stars in my book. Get one or several... I absolutely recommend them. I don't particularly care about the bottom fill opening. The first model didn't have that option, and I open it anyway so I can clean the base and tank portion before refilling. Never had a problem with the bottom falling off after properly engaging all of the tabs.
