A superior alternative to hay nets and hay bags. EZ to load and can be hung low to the ground to encourage natural equine eating habits. Solid top keeps the rain and snow off the hay. Solid bottom keeps the flakes of hay in the feeder and off the ground. Rounded edges are safety oriented. The oval openings are designed with the horse's muzzle in mind. Hang in a stall, on a trailer, on the corral or fence.
Slows consumption, reduces boredom, for better digestion. Comes with a 3/8" rope and snap for hanging.
It is perfect for our Nigerian Dwarf Goats. We have been using one for our three bucks for over a year and it is quite the hay saver. It can be reeled in from outside the pen without entering (a plus, especially when the boys are particularly "aromatic"), refilled, and lowered back inside. Also, it helps to keep the hay dry in the rain, so the goats continue to eat after the rain stops. That is a big help here in rainy Va.
Have 2 horses. Bought 2 of these and have used them everyday in winter season for 2 years. I thought the hinges would be the weak spot but we have to replace one b/c all the holes at the top and broken and the other one has held up really well. They are much easier to fill than hay net and my horses no longer chew wood as they are busy pulling hay out but there is still more waste than I would like to see. Certainly much less waste than feeding on the ground as they can't walk thru their hay or soil it. Have had no issues with sore muzzles
I purchased 2 feeders last Oct and got 2 more in Dec when I saw how well they worked. Has slowed both of my horses eating to 3 hrs per meal and less manure to clean up. They have made feeding time much easier. I know I am using 25% less hay with no body weight loss Win Win for all
