I use this collar on our horses when they are on the highline overnight during camping trips. I feel that these are safer than halters, with less chance of the horse getting tangled up in the lead rope. This allows them to get their heads down to eat/drink and lay down at night, but keeps the rope shorter and out of their way. Also, the collar is light enough material that if they did get in a bind, I think it would break, limiting the chance of them getting hurt or strangling themselves.
The Free-Head Horse Collar is perfect for my horses. I have 4 and one was always pulling the others around by their halters or removing them. I ordered the horse collar and all my horses wear one. I can now catch them in the pasture without using a halter and don't have to worry about lost halters or the other horses being dragged around by my little "bad boy"! I'm ordering more collars to have on hand.
