Plier-type castrator designed for bulls from 250 to 750 lbs (approximate). Bands open to 4" x 3" x 3". the applicator requires no tightening of any kind. Simply open, put in place and release the handle. Also used for removing horns and docking tails.
After application the scrotum should drop off in 20 to 40 days. A tetanus toxoid vaccination is recommended at application.
Bander works great on all animals in the correct weight range in the warm months. Bands break once applied or will not streach with out breaking in the cold months in North Dakota, and the bands were brand new when this was happening.
I bought this XL Bander last year and have used it on about 50 calves. I find it very easy to use because the larger calves can be restrained in my squeeze chute. It makes it much safer, not having a razor sharp knife in my hand with a kicking calf.
My husband thinks that using the XL bander is a huge aset when catorating 450-500 lb bulls. It is bloodless they recover with no problem, Sometimes you may have to pull each one down & feel that both has droped in the bander before you release the band on the calf.
