My mare is in a sandy corral and I wanted rubber conventional style (i.e., not the "no turns") bell boots. I use these for turn out, only. So far they have done exactly what I hoped they would do. The sand never sticks to or builds up under the rubber and there has been no sign of rubbing to date.
I ordered two pair of these bell boots to use for trailering my horses. The boots are soft and flexible and the double touch tape closures keep the boots on the horse's foot. I wouldn't recommend these boots for extended use, however. They do not have a "no turn" feature and, with prolonged use may rub sores on the back of the horse's foot. I'm sure you could overcome this with attention. I am very happy with them for trailering and short-term protection.
