Great muzzle! So glad I went with this one. It's well made but not too heavy and bulky. The straps are made well and will not cause my dog any discomfort. This will be a great training tool. Thank you!
I purchased this type of muzzle to prep my emotionally damaged rescue bulldog/dane/lab mix for his and all of my vet and her staff's protection on walks and vet visits because he can be aggressive. He is a 70 plus pound dog and the first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box was just how potentially faulty the clasp on the back of the head is. It is a metal, always moving around piece like what is on a buckle on a pair of shoes, except those are more sturdy and stay in place better. Fortunately, I never had it fail under pressure because in the almost two months I have tried to get my dog accustomed to the muzzle, I had never needed him in it. He let me know today that even with all of the peanut butter inside and the gradual time to ease it on his nose he is now fed up with the prospect and isn't going to tolerate it.
I cannot believe that the manufacturer put a clasp this flimsy on an item obviously meant for dogs that could harm people if the muzzle got loose in certain situations. While I have NOTHING but wonderful things to say about the good folks at Jeffers, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone in a similar situation as I am with my dog. The muzzle should give you piece of mind, not cause you more worry and stress as to if it is going to fail.
