I'm ordering a second one for another saddle! I wouldn't have anything else. The alpaca is so soft. Cleans up nicely with soaking in a bucket and rinse. No need to put it in the washing machine (and I don't think it's recommended).
I'm very picky about my girths and if that isn't bad enough, I have a mare who is even pickier about what you put on her. So when my mother gave me this as a gift last summer, I was unsure.. as it wasn't the girth I use. It took a couple weeks, but I finally decided to pull it out and try it on my gelding I was training. I actually liked the way it fit. To put it to the ultimate test, I decided to put it on my picky mare. The newer design made her curious at first, but other than that, she seemed to have no issue with it. I've also noticed she's gotten a lot less testy when you go to tighten the girth. As far as cleaning it, I do throw mine in my washing machine, but I put it in a couple of pillow cases before hand and put it on a gentle cycle. I also don't use the same detergent I use on my clothes on the girth, as I'm not sure Gain would be animal friendly. Instead, I just take and put a little liquid hand soap in the water.
This is a fantastic cinch. Execellent on my sensitive, thin skinned mare. Ive had mine for going on two years and it has held up well. We ride through swamps and briars quite frequently and it's held up. When it gets muddy I soak it in a bucket with just a tiny bit of dish soap agitate it well then rinse rinse rinse, as the soap would irritate my horses skin. Then I just hang it to dry. Over all great cinch, and I dont think they are meant to be put in a washing machine.
